Getting to Rooms and Wine
Monteriggioni is a walled village: you cannot drive inside the walls without a permit. There are three different ways in — pick yours and follow it to the end.
Before you set off
- Put Piazza Dante Alighieri 15, Monteriggioni into your sat-nav. If it answers «Piazza Roma», that is the same square under its old name.
- The castle is a restricted-traffic zone. You may drive in only if you have completed the online check-in and given us your number plate: the permit is for dropping your bags, not for parking.
- The building has three floors and no lift.
How are you arriving?
By car, with a permit
- From the Cassia (SS2) take the paved road that climbs towards Monteriggioni.
- As you climb, on your right, you pass the GRICCIOLI PRIVATE PARKING sign and the unpaved track beside it. Take a good look: that is where you will come back to park in a quarter of an hour.

The “Griccioli Private Parking” sign: the track starts here. - Pass the first public car park (Cipressino) and keep climbing. At the top, on your left, is the castle gate.
- Drive in slowly: inside the walls people walk, and pedestrians are always right.
- Carry on as far as the well. The three-storey yellow building facing the well is ours.
- Unload your bags and pick up the keys (just below): the permit covers a short stop, count on fifteen minutes. Then take the car back: out through the same gate, turn right and go back down the road. After the first bend, at the end of the straight, you find the sign and the track again; the car park is a hundred and fifty metres along, on your right.

Then go on to Key collection.

- Before you reach the top, on your right, you will see the sign GRICCIOLI PRIVATE PARKING. It is an unpaved track: that is the right one, you have not gone wrong.
- After about 150 metres the car park is on your right. It is ours, it is free, park wherever there is space.
- From there it is three hundred metres up to the castle, on foot.
